Recovery Oriented Practices Increases Prevention WorkshopView/Download PDF

Isn’t it true that we are often focused on either Recovery or Prevention? But to prevent our loved ones and friends from the harmful effects of addiction, it is necessary to understand what addiction is and the full PROCESS of recovery. What we believe drives our decisions and informs the way we communicate so it is important to understand what we believe. Consequently, words can hurt or help heal. As a person in long term recovery, Scott Theurer will provide an insightful learning session on recovery-oriented practices that inform our work to help rather than hurt. He will provide information on trigger words that have consequences especially for folks in early recovery, as well as dig into myths, perceptions and behaviors.

You will leave the training better understanding…

  1. the Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) and how faith communities play a vital part;
  2. why understanding the recovery process is key to Prevention;
  3. how words have consequences so why using them wisely is important.
